The French Bread

Every Christmas dinner, my dad makes bread and it is good.
Sometimes he even makes it twice a year.
I'm just kidding- he makes it like once a month.

Bread making is a long process.
I just took pictures of the end of this process.

Baskets are the new vases.

If you haven't heard, apparently florals are totally "in" this season.
Recently, I stumbled on another fashion trend, which I will gladly share with you.

The Trend:   Baskets are the new vases.

I'm not pushing the basket phenomenon because they are perfect for picnics or great for holding flowers or even the fact that I just learned how to make one...

I-rish You Could Taste These!

It was St. Patrick's Day on Wednesday. I was planning on making an Irish treat to celebrate, however I was running late (as usual) and I didn't have enough time. So I made the goodies today. It worked out because I'm not sure if anyone would have been able to handle anymore alcohol on Wednesday.

What is the matcha with you?

Is something wrong? You look a little tired. Did you get enough sleep last night? Luckily, I have something that might wake you up.

No, it's not a cup of cofee from Tim Horton's, but a batch of Matcha cookies! No, not mocha, mATcha.

Matcha? Whats that?! Well, according to Wikipedia, Matcha (抹茶, pronounced [mat.tɕa]) refers to finely-milled green tea.

So I actually have a batch of Green Tea Cookies...

Why the sour face?

I love pineapple. I love it fresh and by itself. I love it cooked and with other food. My favourite pizza is Hawaiian pizza because it has pineapple on it. One of my favourite Chinese dishes is Sweet and Sour Pork because it sometimes comes with pineapple. I think you get the point. I just really really like pineapple.

My mom has a good sour cream muffin recipe. In fact, I think it is awesome. It has pineapple in it too. After you have tried one, you might even share my passion for pineapple.

Wow - those bars look WHEY too heavy for you to lift...

I feel like I'm in a love-hate relationship with gyms. Sometimes I love going there, while other times I just dread it. But I always feel great after I leave the gym. I love that "runner's high". You see, I'm more of a treadmill/elliptical-kind-of-girl and not quite a one-hundred-pound-bench-press-kind-of girl.

Yes, yes, yes... I know that should be lifting weights on a regular basis... but I always walk by the treadmills, which have television screens attached to them. Who could possible say no? Did I mention that I don't have cable/satellite at my house?

Well, my dad has enough will power to resist the televisions at the gym, so he lifts weights on a regular basis... and occasionally ingests whey protein powder.

Flowers that don't need watering?

HURRAY! Spring is HERE! Well, not yet... but today, I saw grass! Too bad the weather can be so finicky and this sunny forecast can turn into a intense snow storm within minutes... perhaps that was a slight exaggeration.

At least I have something to tie you over until the real flowers bloom.

ICING ROSES!!!
These are low maintenance flowers:
- watering: not required
- eating: optional

Oh honey, I just love you!

Honey, I think you are just fabulous. Why? Well...
  • Your flexible.
  • You are sweet.
  • And best of all, you are ALL natural.
  • But you can be difficult...

...to get out of the bottle!

I've got BALLS!! ... rice balls and cake balls...

One of my favorite Chinese desserts is loh mei chi, aka glutinious rice balls. These tasty chewy balls are usually filled with a sweet peanut butter mixture or a red bean paste. This week, I was surprised when I found a MANGO filled loh mei chi just sitting on the kitchen counter and just waiting to be eaten.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Today, I wanted to make something new from something old. I'm not talking about taking old jeans and making a skirt out of them. I'm talking about Bread Pudding.

You need day old bread. Preferably not moldy.
I used the Challah/Eggbread that I made more than one day ago.
